BY-LAWS HALE FAMILY ASSOCIATION

 

ARTICLE I             The name of the organization shall be the HALE FAMILY ASSOCIATION.

 

ARTICLE II           The purpose of the Hale Family Association shall be:

A)      To assist the various Hale lines that arrived from England in the 1630’s to learn, collect, and preserve their lineage records, and keep them current. 

B)   To promote closer relationships in and between the various families. 

C)   To collect and share information regarding family homesteads, birthplace, migration patterns, and final resting places.

 

ARTICLE III          At biennial meetings, surplus funds may be used to help various designated Family Organizations preserve or restore their historical homesteads by member vote if proposed in the Biennial meeting call.

 

ARTICLE IV          There are several classes of membership: Personal Memberships: Senior - $15.00, Single - $20.00, Family - $30.00, Sustaining $50.00, Patron $100.00, Life $1,000.00, also Corporate Memberships as follows: Sponsor $75.00, Patron $150.00, Benefactor $500.00.  (Amendment was approved at 1999 Biennial meeting).

 

ARTICLE V           Any person interested in the Hale /Family Association may become a member by paying the dues of a category chosen in article IV.               

 

ARTICLE VI          The officers of the Association shall be a President, a Vice President, a Secretary/Treasurer, and Historian/Genealogist.  They shall be elected by a write-in vote previous to the time of the Biennial meeting.

 

Standing Committees are as Follows:

 

1. The Board of Directors will consist of the President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, Historian/Genealogist, and one member at large.  They shall meet at the call of any member upon reasonable notice to the Secretary.  Three members shall constitute a quorum.

 

2. Regional Directors, appointed by the President, with approval by the Board of Directors, shall constitute an Advisory Committee.  Their duties will be to generate support for the Hale Family Association with-in their region, ands make recommendations to the Board of Directors, which would be of interest to members of the Hale Family in their region.  They will also collect and contribute Family news items for a Quarterly Newsletter.

 

3. The President, with the advice and consent of the Board of Directors, shall appoint a three-member Nominating Committee.  The Nominating Committee will mail it’s slate of officers, with space provided on the ballot for members’ writ-in votes, to all members of the Hale Family Association in good standing. Two months before the Biennial Meeting.  The votes will be counted and the slate will be presented at the Biennial Meeting.

 

 The term of office for elected officials and Committee members will be two years.  Officers may only serve two terms consecutively.

 

Any Officer or Committee member may resign by written notice to the Secretary, or in the event of resignation of the Secretary, by written notice to the President.  The Board of Directors shall fill vacancies for the un-expired term.

 

ARTICLE VII         A Biennial Meeting of the Association shall be held at a mutually agreed upon location every other year, in odd numbered years.

 

ARTICLE VIII        These By-laws may be amended at any meeting of the Hale Family Association by a two-thirds vote of those present and voting provided the substance of the proposed amendment shall have been stated in the call for the meeting.

 

ARTICLE IX          Meetings will be conducted in accordance with the rules contained in Robert’s Rules of Order.
